As of May 2023, Vietnam has a total of 29 operating coal-fired power plants, with a total capacity of 26,087 MW, accounting for 32.3% of the total power system capacity. The electricity production from coal-fired power plants in 2022 was 104.9 TWh, making up 39.1% of the total electricity production. In the future, six coal-fired power projects are under construction and are expected to be operational between 2024 and 2030, with a total capacity of 5,660 MW.

Representatives shared their operational fields, expertise, and proposed long-term services to ensure the stable operation of power plants in Vietnam. PEMS continues to commit to providing reliable solutions for power plants, contributing to increased efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions through maintenance services and training, biomass fuel conversion cooperation, extending the lifespan, and making power plants environmentally friendly. The parties also discussed further cooperation opportunities in supplying spare parts, experts, performance evaluations of steam turbine cycles, and long-term service proposals to ensure reliable and stable operation of power plants, performance diagnostics, root cause analysis of performance degradation, and appropriate solution proposals.
