Nghi Son Refinery & Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) is considered one of the significant projects in the oil and gas industry in Vietnam, making a substantial contribution to the economic and energy development of the country. Nghi Son Refinery & Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) is a large-scale oil refining and petrochemical project in Vietnam. The refinery is located in the Nghi Son region, Thanh Hoa province, approximately 200 kilometers south of Hanoi. NSRP boasts a large-scale construction with the goal of meeting domestic and export demands for various petroleum and petrochemical products.
The NSRP project commenced in 2008 and was executed through a joint venture between leading energy companies in Vietnam and foreign partners, including the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Kuwait Petroleum Europe BV (Kuwait), Idemitsu Kosan, and Mitsui Chemicals (Japan).
NSRP officially commenced commercial operations in early 2018 after completing testing, commissioning, and trial runs of its systems. The refinery began production and supplied various petroleum and petrochemical products to both the domestic and export markets.
NSRP possesses a large-scale and modern technology to meet large-scale production demands efficiently. This allows the refinery to quickly and effectively convert crude oil into various petroleum and chemical products. As evidence, NSRP has the capacity to process 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day, equivalent to 10 million tons of crude oil annually. Modern technology and equipment are employed to produce diverse products, including gasoline, diesel, asphalt, and other petroleum products. Additionally, NSRP has the capability to produce petrochemical products such as polypropylene, benzene, and paraxylene, providing flexibility to meet market demands and diversify revenue streams.
Furthermore, NSRP has a highly experienced and skilled technical team in the fields of oil refining and petrochemicals. These professionals contribute knowledge and expertise to operate and maintain the refinery efficiently and safely.
NSRP not only produces essential petroleum products for the Vietnamese energy market but also reduces the country's reliance on petroleum product imports. Moreover, this project creates numerous opportunities for the Nghi Son region and Thanh Hoa province, including job creation, tax revenues, and infrastructure development investments.
